Requirements for circulating water quality of open cooling tower:
For general process water treatment cooling towers, the water quality requirements are as follows:
Clean and free of debris, the supplementary water should not contain oil stains. The turbidity of the water is ≤ 50mg/l, and it does not contain mechanical impurities with a diameter greater than 5mm.

Service conditions: The water quality of the cooling tower at the initial use is decisive for the corrosion (white corrosion) of hot-dip galvanized materials. So in the first 8 weeks of operation, the pH should be controlled between 6.5-8, and the hardness and alkalinity values should be between 100 and 300 ppm.
When using chlorine containing agents for water treatment, they should be used intermittently, and the residual chloride ions in a short period of time should not exceed 1 ppm. Excessive chloride ions can damage sealants and other structural materials.
The surrounding environmental conditions of the cooling tower usage site should not be worse than a 'moderate industrial environment', with less acidity in precipitation and fog, and should not contain obvious chlorine and H2S substances.
There are many suitable chemicals on the market that can be used for sterilization, descaling, and rust prevention, but they should be used with caution. Moreover, when multiple drugs are mixed, they can interact with each other to counteract their effectiveness. The use of some chemical drugs such as defoamers and dispersants can lead to an increase in float.
